Professional Instructors

Danny Winget

 

Danny fell in love with Golf at age 21 and began working towards a professional career. After playing and teaching for a few years, he began teaching full-time in 1993. His 30-year career has included time at La Cantera Golf Academy and, most recently, a successful tour at the world-renowned Mike Bender Golf Academy near Orlando. Family obligations brought Danny back to town in 2020, where he picked back up teaching at DSP Golf.

Highlights include but not limited to:

  • 103 college scholarships
  • 27 district champions
  • 3 Express News Players of the year
  • Multiple qualifiers for the US Junior Amateur
  • Three NCAA All-Conference performers
  • Caddy and on-course performance evaluation of numerous PGA, LPGA, and NCAA competitors.

Tom Covino

 

Tom grew up on Long Island playing golf at Bethpage Black Course. He went on to become a golf professional in New York before moving to Texas. He has been a golf instructor at DSP Golf since 1994. His passion is teaching beginners, juniors, and highly experienced golfers with a special focus on short game and putting. Tom has learned much of his putting, chipping and pitching skills from the former Ryder Cup Captain, Dave Stockton.

Highlights include but not limited to:

  • 3 Junior golfers turn professional
  • Many Juniors receive D1 scholarships to universities like: Baylor University, UT, and Arizona State.
  • One student who made the final Drive Chip and Putt Championship at Augusta National.
  • Taught clinics and invented golf training aids with Dave Stockton.
  • Inventor of Clutch Putts NFL, First Foot, Birdzone Putting, and Tour Gate.

Tom’s motto is “Repetition is the father of skill.”

Coach Vinny

 

Coach Vinny is Zambias first ever PGA golf professional. His historic journey has been featured in Golf digest, PGA magazine and he was recognized on the senate floor for his accomplishment. He is an author of a book titled RAISED BY THE WORLD- My Path to Becoming Zambias first ever PGA Golf Professional.

He took up golf at 10 year in a small Zambian mining town and the journey has been historic. He attended golf schools in England and St Andrew’s Scotland before moving to the USA. He has worked at some of the countries premiere country clubs as an assistant golf professional, Junior Golf Director, and organizer of Women’s golf leagues and clinics. He was recently the lead coach at the First Tee of San Antonio before Joining us to oversee the establishment of our Junior Golf Academy.
